CNC Tool Setter


We are looking for a detail-oriented CNC Tool Setter to ensure the efficient and accurate setup of tools for our CNC machines. In this role, you will be responsible for selecting, installing, and maintaining cutting tools, as well as performing tool changes and adjustments as needed. Your expertise will play a crucial role in optimising production processes and ensuring the highest level of quality and productivity.

  • Set up and install cutting tools on CNC machines according to job specifications.
  • Perform tool changes and adjustments as required during production runs.
  • Inspect tools for wear, damage, or defects and replace them as necessary.
  • Collaborate with machine operators and programmers to optimize tooling processes.
  • Monitor tool life and make recommendations for tooling improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling inventory and usage.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.



  • Proven experience as a CNC Tool Setter or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of CNC machines and tooling systems.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and job specifications.
  • Strong understanding of cutting parameters, speeds, and feeds.
  • Familiarity with tool presetting equipment and software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Experience in an engineering aerospace/motorsport manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of lean tools and practical experience of their use


  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and on their own initiative.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy even when working under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve high quality output in all tasks.
  • Able to proactively identify risks and issues and devise mitigation and contingency plans, solving problems as they arise.
  • An organised and methodical approach to working.
  • Systematic planning and excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining quality of output.
