Manufacturing Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

A fantastic opportunity has now arisen as we are actively seeking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our facility based primarily in Andover. In this role you will design and implement production methodologies to deliver a quality product to customer requirements. To manage all stages and aspects of manufacture of new product, from initial enquiry to final delivery

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a full life-cycle product development: design, develop, oversee manufacture and review processes to ensure quality is built into the methodology.
  • Ensure activities are maintained within the budget and scope of project.
  • Create methodologies and design fixtures for manufacture of new product including measurement, assembly and packaging.
  • Set, prove on machine and evaluate programme, tooling and fixturing/methodologies.
  • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
  • Evaluate final product’s conformity against customer specifications.
  • Inspection of manufactured product to meet Customers specification and ensuring trouble free, consistent quality.
  • Prepare FAIR reports and documentation.
  • Ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Evaluate feedback and observations from operator, implementing when appropriate.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods.
  • ​​Investigate cost effective and / or alternative solutions.
  • Preparing accurate quotations and estimates .

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • HNC in manufacturing engineering or relevant manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
  • Proven working experience in manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Working to deadline to ensure consistent customer delivery fulfilment.
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
  • Proven computer skills in MS Office - Familiarity with 2D and 3D design and manufacturing software.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Inspection of manufactured product.
  • To take ownership of all stages and aspects of manufacture of new product, from initial enquiry to being Production ready to final delivery.

Desirable

  • Experience ideally gained in an aerospace/motorsport manufacturing environment working with components/assemblies to critical/micron tolerances.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with hyperMILL, QUINDOS, Pro-Engineer/Creo, Vericut, tebis.
  • Mitutoyo Geopak/Cat1000.
  • Fanuc G code and Siemens.
  • 5 axis milling.
  • Mill/Turn.
  • Tooling techniques/selection.

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent leadership & people management skills and collaborates well in a small team.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality.
  • Innovative with the ability to show problem analysis skills and creativity when devising solutions.
  • Organised, methodical and able to prioritise multiple projects and deadlines in a calm and consistent manner to ensure consistent customer delivery fulfilment.
  • Excellent Computer Literacy & proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Communicates technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Understands tooling sheets/techniques/selection & able to do visual checks.
